Rebel Rules: A Four Week Boundary Skills Course with Melissa Forde
So we can set the world on fire, without burning out.
The journey begins on May 6, 2021
Unfair power dynamics have never been more obvious or unsustainable.
In 2020, hundreds of thousands of people died in the biggest public health crisis in modern history (with black and brown communities bearing a disproportionate share of the fatalities), racialized violence was illuminated in epic proportions, democracy in America was threatened and the planet nearly self-combusted under the pressure of our mistreatment.
Living and working within systems that have been specifically designed for some (but not all) creates a life threatening strain on everyone and everything involved.
A lot of change is needed, and it’s needed now.
The people best equipped to imagine and build an equitable new world are also the ones most likely to get overwhelmed
Caring a lot about humans and the planet often comes with an ability to feel deeply.
Experiencing the pain of the world as if it’s our own gives us tremendous insight and can inspire us to become forces of healing change. Feeling too much, however, can flood our systems and cause us to engage in numbing practices (flight) or shut down completely (freeze).
Those of us who are sensitive to the world around us are vulnerable to overwhelm and prone to over-giving because high levels of empathetic awareness are only possible with very permeable boundaries.
Don’t fret though, stretchy boundaries are no problem as long as you know how to work ‘em!
Boundaries are everything
Having healthy, adaptable and clear boundaries allows us to do things like focus our energy on endeavors aligned with our values, rest + recharge when we’re tired and protect ourselves from things that drain us — so we have more fuel for the things that really matter.
If you want to meaningfully contribute to the changes needed in our world, Rebel Rules is for you.
This course focuses on how boundaries move and feel.
There’s lots of really interesting things to say about boundaries — yet our bodies always speak louder than words.
Working with our somatic intelligence offers a way more robust and experiential understanding of boundaries than cognitive information we can only think about with our heads.
This class is for you if:
*You are service oriented and tend to slide into martyrdom or self-sacrifice

*You override your own needs to support others

*You take care of others as part of your work in the world
*You struggle to set sustainable limits with the people you interact with
*You desire a deeper understanding of and connection to your body
You want to contribute to the change our world needs, yet feel burned out
You want to learn cool things with a group of cool people
In this class we will:
*Dive into the physiology of nervous system states
*Learn how to track our edges and accurately orient ourselves to our environment
*Practice noticing the signals our bodies send us about our true needs
*Explore the shapes + moves that coherently communicate our state to others
*Share stories + laugh a lot
